Baška

A culturale centre with a long tourist tradition. You will enjoy sunbathing on the long beaches, or in small intimate coves, peaceful and quiet, ideal for a long rest. Tourist are attracted to Baška especially for its 1800 meter long pebbly beach, one of the most beautiful ones in the Adriatic. Among the sights to visit there is St. Trinity Parish Church and the Local Ethnographic Museum in the old town centre. Nearby there is a village called Jurandvor, very important in Croatian history. In St. Lucy church in Jurandvor the oldest Croatian written monument was found. The copy of this stone tablet with glagolitic inscriptions dating from the year 1100 can be seen in the church.

Krk

The biggest place and the main centre of the island . It attracts tourists because of its valuable cultural and historical monuments. You will undoubtedly enjoy walking around the town centre and you should visit its astonishing cathedral. If you get lost in one of the streets of Krk you can easily get back to the main square (Vela placa) where you can enjoy the sight of the old square with its Renaissance well. From the coast there is the wonderful view of Kamplin and Frankopan Castle where during the summer numerous concerts and theatre plays take place.

Malinska

Malinska is situated on the western coast of the island of Krk, in a woody bay of Dubašnica territory (dub- means oak tree). It is a tourist spot famous for its good climate, mild winters and warm summers. Righ vegetation and well kept beaches ara a true paradise for tourists. In Porto near Malinska, in the church of St. Mary Magdalene from 1500 there is a museum with valuable exhibits of the historical heritage. The history of Malinska begins in the 15th century after a mill had been made and after which it got its name.

Njivice

Once a small fishermen village on the sea coast it is today a pleasant tourist centre with accommodation in hotels, apartments and camping. It is also famous for its restaurants serving delicious genuine local food.

Omišalj

After crossing the Krk bridge it is the first place we reach. It has a very long and rich history and is famous for its churches, a few of them ornamented with Glagolitic inscriptions and valuable paintings. People in Omišalj are trying to preserve their old customs, traditional songs and dances and the Feast of the Assumption (15th August) is traditionally a special celebration in Omišalj.

The island of Krk

It is situated in the Kvarner Bay and it is one of the biggest island in the Adriatic sea. It is attractive because of its intact nature with plenty of picturesque beaches and coves. Many places on the island have their historical importance and represent inestimable Croatian cultural heritage. Almost all places on the island boast their traditional feasts, folclore events, songs, typical cuisine and local quality wine. Moreover, tourists can enjoy luxuriant vegetation, crystal clean sea, peace and quiet far from the stressful pace of modern civilization.

Punat

An important and busy centre of nautical tourism. Nearby, there is the small island of Košljun with a Franciscan monastery dating from the 15th century. The monks preserve a valuable ethnographic collection as well as numerous books written in Glagolitic letters. If you like history you will never forget this place. This part of the island is well known for its olive-groves. Every year tourists are invited to join the traditional Days of Olives, an extraordinary event.

Šilo

The village just opposite Crikvenica has developed into a pleasant tourist place with accommodation in apartments and camping. For those who enjoy active holidays there is an attractive mountain path and a cave «Biserujka» to visit.

Vrbnik

The place on the north-east coast of the island, situated on high and steep cliffs. You will be delighted by the beauty of the picturesque narrow lanes, antique houses and details almost untouched by the time. The sight to visit is the Parish church dating from the year 1325 as well as the Vitezić family library preserving valuable Glagolitic books. From the old town there is a wonderful view of the Vrbnik fields and vineyards. After the walk you can find refreshment in one of the taverns and have a drink of quality local wine Vrbnička žlahtina.
